New azure cloud infrastructure for PORTA KMI POLAND
PORTA KMI POLAND is the largest door manufacturer in Central and Eastern Europe. In five modern production plants: in Bolszewo, two plants in Ełk, Suwałki, and in Romanian Arad, it produces over 85,000 internal, entrance, external and technical doors and over 70,000 frames every month.
The genesis of cooperation:
The commencement of cooperation with PORTA KMI POLAND was the result of our long-term business relationship with one of the Warsaw 360 agencies - Pegasus Advertising. Dozens of projects were implemented together and mutual trust naturally meant that we were also invited to this tripartite cooperation. As part of the "My Magic Door" project, implemented by Pegasus Advertising for PORTA KMI POLAND, we were responsible for the implementation of infrastructure in the Microsoft AZURE environment, dedicated to the website ordered by the Client.
Scope of work:
The site in question was used to conduct the "My Magic Door" competition, the idea of which was to send through a specially prepared website, the projects of "truly magical doors". The competition was organized in connection with the premiere of the latest Disney animation "Our Magical Encanto", which made it an extremely media event. In addition, it was promoted in all PORTA communication channels, as well as part of paid campaigns, thanks to which it appeared in the consciousness of a very large group of recipients. This, in turn, guaranteed very high and irregular user traffic on the site. An additional challenge was the very short time to complete the order, which due to the tight promotion plan of the competition, was only 48 hours.
Infrastructure:
All resources, creating the new infrastructure, were organized within one specific resource group (Azure Resource Group). As a secure and scalable database, we used the relational Maria DB database, running as a service in Microsoft Azure. We ran the web server as part of Azure Virtual Machine, which we connected to the database with a virtual network, without external access. As part of the virtual network, we configured Azure Network Security Group - a built-in firewall that ensured the secure operation of the contest page, while as a backup of the virtual machine and the entire database, we used the Azure Backup service with 14-day retention and instant data recovery from snapshots. Thanks to the GOLD Microsoft Partner status, we have completed the entire service as part of a subscription, performing all actions on behalf of the Customer, relieving him of all formalities.
Summary:
For PORTA KMI POLAND, we have configured and implemented a secure and scalable infrastructure based on the Microsoft Azure environment. We used solutions that allowed for efficient and trouble-free conduct of the competition, keeping the website in full operation, regardless of the volume of user traffic. As part of the cooperation, we also launched administrative care over the newly created infrastructure, thanks to which PORTA KMI POLAND gained round-the-clock monitoring of its environment and a guarantee of instant response in the event of a malfunction of the service.
